Has anybody ever been a Cart Attendant/Bag drop person at a golf course?
did you get tips? And was it a fun job? I have applied to a few country clubs to work this summer. I would just like to learn a little more about it... thanks
I'm 40, and I did it at a private club when I was 16 and 17. It was a fun job. We got tips occasionally, but we also got to play for free on Mondays. Certainly beats flipping burgers or cleaning toilets.
You have to kiss butt, especially at a private club. You'll meet some nice people, and you'll meet some real jerks.
Just be prepared to work very early mornings and on holidays. In the summer, the morning shift had to be there at 6am to get the carts out and bags loaded up. Of course, when you work 6am-2pm, you have the whole afternoon to do stuff.
I have a boatload of stories. I swear, the movie Caddyshack might as well be a documentary! Caddies falling into lakes, guys flipping over carts, one guy, well, me, accidentally drove over a sprinkler head the grounds crew left out and broke open the water line... ah, the memories.
I say go for it.
