My Unforgetable Experience On Mizuno Mx-200 Iron Set
I have recently returned to the game after a several year hiatus due to medical issues that required abdominal surgery. I had to quit because of the pains I experienced after each time at the range or on a course. During that time my clubs were stolen.
When I decided I wanted to give golf a go again a couple of months back I obviously needed new irons. I had played a forged players iron before (Ben Hogan Apex Plus'). That was the first experience I had with a forged club and I told myself I would never hit cast clubs again. With that in mind I went into my local Golfsmith and the result was the MX-200 Iron.
Upon returning to the game I realized it would take a while before I once again became a single digit handicapper. So, I waited until I found my swing again to write this review. Well I found it this weekend after spending 4 hours at the range and going through seven buckets of balls.
The new Mizuno iron with Y-tune technology is a quantum leap in game improvement design. Y-tune technology extends and expands the sweet area of the clubface out toward the toe to deliver amazing forgiveness on mis-hits. With the re-engineered external power bar and inner Y-shape cavity pad, the MX 200s are tuned for unbelievable forgiveness, great trajectory and amazing, forged feel.
All I can say is these clubs are amazing. When you pure one the only way you know the ball even made contact is by the crisp clean click of impact. My misses are usually out on the toe with about half the ball missing the grooves. Unlike with the Hogans I used to play these still give a relatively straight ball flight with minimal loss of distance. I require stiff shafts, and my distance is about 10 yards greater than what it used to be with my old clubs also.
Some may have an issue with the slightly bigger club head and slightly thicker top line than that of a "Players Club" but I had no issue with that whatsoever. It was as if these clubs were created to be "the wife" to my golf swing. Using clubs like these became effortless with each swing and I finally "got it". For years golfers have been telling me that Mizuno Irons "just feel different than other clubs". But as I mentioned previously, they just did not work for me. Until Now. It clicked and I understood exactly what everybody had been telling me all this time.
My only complaint about these clubs is that they do not have the traditional look I prefer; however, once grounded the club looks only slightly larger than a traditional cavity back so the extra confidence I have for those 1 in 20 toe shots is worth the sacrifice. You can't go wrong with these clubs.
If you are looking for a move from your "super" game improvement clubs as they now seemed to be termed this club worths a shot. They are still considered game improvement, but trust me once you pure a ball off the center of the face the feel (or lack thereof) will have you hooked on forged irons.

How much does it cost to change shafts from one set of irons to another?
I just purchased a set of Hogan Apex Plus irons and I don't like the Hogan stiff shafts. I have Dynamic Gold S300s in my current irons and would like to have them in the Hogans.
To clarify, I'm not purchasing new shafts, rather, take the heads off the S300s and put the Hogan heads on those shafts.
Well it costs a lot of money to change the shafts on golf clubs so if I were you wouldn't waste your money on switching them and buy new clubs with the right shafts and sell the other clubs on eBay or something...that is what I would do.
