Incredible Callaway FT iz driver
You see where I'm coming from? Head shape and a sense of familiarity are far more important to me than the very latest technological ‘breakthrough' which, as we all know, might be no more technological than a slightly different color paint and new graphic.
A golfer would be foolish though to reject every new club that comes along, and definitely shouldn't pass up the possibility of carrying the ball an extra couple of yards just for the sake of being a traditionalist – as if hitting a TaylorMade r7 425, Nike SQ DYMO, Callaway FT iz driver or Big Bertha 460, for instance, makes you a traditionalist.
The question remains though: is the new flagship of Callaway's range of drivers, the FT-iZ, worth your attention? Does it offer more than a quick, but well disguised, restyling job? Should even staunch traditionalists shelve their aversion to innovation and check it out?
It's perhaps a little early to tell, and you certainly won't find me making any claims based on a session at an indoor range. But if you believe what Callaway is saying, for example ‘the FT-iZ is longer and straighter than any driver we've ever made', it definitely sounds like you should be heading to your pro shop for a test drive at least.
The biggest innovation is Polar Weighting in the head. This means, basically, a heavier face than is typical and a back weight.
"74% of the head's weight is found at the face and in the back weight port," says Director of Product Design Luke Williams. "Polar weighting will make the head noticeably more stable on off-centre hits, meaning greater distance when you miss the sweetspot. Next up is the ‘Chemically-milled Hyperbolic Face Cup', made possible by a chemical reduction process that uses acid to remove the brittle alpha case, a by-product of the casting process and on which cracks are likely to propagate.
‘This allows us to control the thickness of the face,' says Williams, ‘which, in turn, means we can control the Callaway FT iz driver's CT (formerly COR) and position very precise weights.'
Fusion technology – a combination of aluminium, steel, carbon-fibre and titanium, allows the weight to be positioned where you need it, makes the club lighter and dampens the sound without the explosive ‘crash' of an all-titanium driver being lost entirely. The result is an impressively high moment of inertia.
It's a compelling collection of technologies that will have the tech-heads salivating. Ernie Els has also appeared pretty keen since putting it in play at the Sony Open, three weeks ago. Though he admits he's not technically-minded like Phil Mickelson, he knows what he likes.
My only reservation when I first clapped eyes on the FT-iZ was the shape of the head – the now seemingly standard ‘progressive' shape that features a wide face tapering towards a point at the back, making it look almost triangular. With the fairly low-profile face and this tapered design, the FT-iZ creates 11% less drag than the FT-iQ (mind you, a London bus probably cuts through the air more efficiently than the FT-iQ) – another aid to greater distance.
Review Summary: Can't recommend this club unless you want a club that plays much weaker than normal, to satisfy your ego. You can say that you play a Stiff flex shaft, when really it feels like an R flex shaft, but your playing partners won't know. And you'll get added height to your shots if needed. This club may be suited to some golfers, but not to me. I think slow swingers may actually like this club quite a bit, and they can get it in a flex stronger than they normally play to assuage thier ego. Aldila's swing speed recommendations seem to be way off, unless as I said, Callaway marked the shafts differently so that they are actually softer than labelled. I'm not a nitpicker, as I've played other Callaway branded clubs and liked them. A few years ago, they had a driver known as the Hyper X 460 Ti driver, and I liked that one very much. And I even liked the Callaway FT-iZ hybrid that I tried the same day, but this driver seems like an ‘old man' club. I seriously doubt that Phil Mickelson has this stock shaft in his version of the driver, if in fact he plays this model.

Golf Drivers: Methods To Effectively Pick The Ideal Types
Golf will not be the same with out the golf clubs, or more often known as golf drivers. No, golf doesn't demand driving, but the golf drivers help the player in acquiring the ball as close to the hole in the least number of times achievable. Many beginner players think that golf is just a "get and go" sport- you just get any golf club and whack the green.
Golf clubs have particular characteristics that ought to be considered just before purchasing, and need to be taken into careful consideration to prevent wasting cash and added frustration when starting to play. Professional golf players can give you ideas on the best way to choose the right golf club. You can also ask the stores, but unfortunately they might sell you not the best, but the most expensive club. Yu need to take into account how much time you spend time in playing. Is it just a weekend game, or just for fun? Will it be a regular hobby and a sport that you'd wish to be devoting your time?
Amateurs and beginners are recommended to take the time to be "custom-fitted" having a golf club prior to deciding to acquire it. As golf clubs are custom-made for players having a height of 5'10", it is finest to have a golf club fitted based on your height. Needless to say, you wouldn't like to carry a club tat is way too long for you. The club fitter will think about different factors like shaft flex, shaft sort, shaft length, lie angle, grip size, golf club design, and set make up. Normally, this is performed in order for you to get the correct golf driver for you as a lot as possible. Like getting a suit tailored just for you, getting the appropriate driver need to also invlove having it custom-made for your needs and wants.
Going back to the question of deciding how will you play golf - will it be a weekend game, or something that you will be devoting and investing your time with? The purchase of the golf driver is based here too. If you'll just be the casual golfer which will just play whenever he wants to, you can choose to just by the standardised clubs in stores. It is not that high-priced and yu can save your time. If you will be playinggolf seriously, opt to have your golf drivers be custom-made as this will be a wise investment on your part. It really is a wise investment as you'll be able to use these custom-made clubs for a long time and will aid you mold a competitive player in you after months and even years of practice and training.
Going into the design itself, a slightly larger golf driver head is recommended for beginners. This may lessen the "misses" that destroys the game. This will give more control, and makes you accustomed on having a "feel" of how will you put your strength on the drive itself. When you're already used to it, choose a smaller design, a smaller clubhead enables the player to decide on a lot more spots to hit on in comparison to a larger clubhead. Weighings should be taken into account. A golf driver has an external or internal weighing that may be added on. Weighings enables you to change the screws to make a draw or a fade, and also affects the height of the ball's flight. A correct shaft flex should also be noted so it'll fit your swing. As an example, a player with a quick swing ought to opt for a stiff shaft driver to keep accuracy even though on the other hand, 1 with a slow swing should have the flexible shaft to maximise drive distance. And finally, pick the proper loft angle that fits finest to your swing. The higher the loft, the higher the launch angle and result to a farther distance. A golfer having a slow swing will benefit in this type of loft. The 1 with a quickly swing really should get the one with a slightly lower loft. Higher lofts range from 10º and above, the lower lofts go inside the range of 9º.
Picking the very best golf driver matters a great deal. If you're aiming to be the serious, competitive golfer that you've been wanting to be, then be keen on making a good buy of your quite first golf driver.
